As our 'American Football Player of the Week' campaign draws to a close here at EverythingBranded.com, we decided to honour the event by talking to none other than Leicester's Guy Kersey, coach of the Leicester Falcons. Guy sits down with us and talks growth, national titles and coaching the Falcons...
Chloe: Hi Guy! How did you get into American Football?
Guy: I was a good rugby player at school, I got injured and missed my trial. I had seen American Football on TV and was interested, I then saw a poster for a local team and went to a game. While there I saw they were having junior try-outs, so I went. From thereon I was hooked!
Chloe: How did you progress into coaching?
Guy: Like most, I got old and slow so I moved into coaching and management.
Chloe: Which American Football team do you support, and which player do you most admire?
Guy: Other than Leicester Falcons? Oakland Raiders and my favorite player is Bo Jackson.
Chloe: What makes a great Football player?
Guy: Dedication, skill and an ability to learn.
Chloe: How has
EverythingBranded USA impacted Leicester falcons?
Guy: They have helped raise our profile in the city of Leicester.
Chloe: What’s been the biggest challenge you’ve faced since becoming a coach?
Guy: Controlling the growth.
Chloe: What’s been the biggest achievement as a coach?
Guy: Two national titles, hopefully three after this weekend!
Chloe: What has American Football taught you?
Guy: Working as a team and moving as a unit. I greatly enjoy being apart of a sport that doesn't discriminate, allowing people from all backgrounds work together and share a common goal.
